In this increasingly populated world, your fishing guide will take you off the beaten track to fulfill your flyfishing dreams.
Enjoy numerous streams where you are virtually guaranteed the peace, quiet, and solitude to sight and stalk wild brown and rainbow trout. The terrain is wild, spectacularly beautiful and remote. At times, just getting to a fishing location can be an adventure in itself. A challenging world class fishery is waiting for you - gin clear water, large wild trout and majestic mountain scenery - a justifiably world famous combination.
Seasons
The fishing here is year round (our wilderness flyfishing adventures run from October to 31 May). You have a choice of nine rivers from swift mountain streams, slow-moving lowland streams, spring creeks and alpine lakes. Dry fly, nymph or drift fish for "cruising browns". The species you can expect to catch are Steelhead rainbow trout, German Brown trout and Quinnat salmon.
Access
Remarkables Lodge is only five minutes from the lakeside for boat access to wilderness streams. Our guides use 4WD vehicles to get you to remote areas - fully equpped including lunch. Or you can fly directly into wilderness areas from the Lodge's own heli-pad. Check out one of our guest's favourite trips,
heli-fishing from the lodge.
Hang your waders in the drying room, soak in the spa pool. Enjoy "Sundowners" around the bar and chat about the one that got away!
Guides
Experienced guides know more and how to fish our local rivers. They can organise equipment and permits and are happy to introduce beginners to the basics or to find challenging adventures for the more experienced. Our guides are recognised as amongst the best in New Zealand.
