With so much to do in Queenstown and surrounding area combining a day of off-road adventures along the rarely used Nevis track with a visit to local wineries maximises guests time in the area and offers the opportunity to experience the extreme diversity of the region.
The Nevis track crosses more than 30 streams and takes in diverse terrain including Duffers Saddle and offers great views of Mt Nevis.
Programme:
- 9 am: Leave the lodge and head south on the Devil's Staircase to the start of the track, which winds around
the southern end of Remarkables before rising along the east side of this craggy range.
- 10.30 am: Coffee and Remarkables Lodge brownies in the heart of the wilderness high on the Nevis track
- 12.30 pm: Emerge from the track into Bannockburn and head for a delicious lunch and a well earned glass
of wine at Carrick winery
- After lunch in Bannockburn and Cromwell visit:
- Olssens winery complete with a collection of garden sculptures by local artists
- The Wooing Tree winery with its historic wooing tree used by locals to propose to their sweetheart
- The Wine Experience Aroma Room to be informed by the experts and develop your nosing skills
- Afternoon: Return drive along the scenic Kawaru Gorge calling at Peregrine and Chard Farm wineries to
sample more local wines before returning to the lodge.
